Box shows oil staining around edges, otherwise is completely intact and very fine. 8/31/20 - This is an original, late-war example of an Army issued Remington Rand M1911A1. Grips are crisp as are the mechanics, brilliant shiny bore. 45 Auto, consisting of an Ithaca slide & 1944 production Remington Rand frame. Overall retains virtually all of an outstanding restored gray parkerized finish with a few scattered pin pricks of pitting. Military contract single action semi-automatic service pistol chambered in. This shipment was made just a couple of months prior to the surrender of Japan at the end of WWII and further research could likely disclose the mission of this organization in China. I agree with Bgiven, it is most likely a mixmaster as I believe most Springfield Arsenal rebuilds of that vintage would probably be marked with 'SA'. Behind most of the serial numbers listed are various initials, apparently those of the individuals to whom the pistols were issued. There is no signs of arsenal or aftermarket refinish. The Crossed Cannon stamp is present but weak and we believe it was one of many with a weak stamp.
It appears to reaming with original finishes. There is a hand written note on top right corner “KUNMING, CHINA”. Description: Decent 1944 vintage Remington Rand 1911A1 s/n range 1,539,xxx puts manufacture to 1944. This form is dated 7 July 1945 with “CONSIGNOR” listed as “CBI WAR DOG DETACHMENT, APO 6299” with “SHIP TO” “COMMANDING OFFICER HEADQUARTERS & HEADQUARTERS, O.S.S., DETACHMENT, APO 627. Also accompanying is a Quartermaster Corps form 434, shipping ticket for 27 dog crates, dog leashes, dog collars, kennel chains, iron stakes, dog pans and which also lists 27 1911A1 pistols by serial number including this pistol.

Mounted with full checkered, brown plastic grips with donuts that have a “K” inside a star with reinforcements on inside.
